I am conflicted about writing a blog. I am categorically opposed to writing about myself. How obnoxious. (No offense to some of the lovely blogs written about people’s lives… It just not for me.)
But giving myself a little chizuk (encouragement; strength) out loud (i.e. sharing it with you) seems doable, even desirable.
So, here we go. I was just speaking to some dear friends about “If only….” thinking.
Achhh. If only I didn’t have to write this blog. If only my child didn’t __________,” If only my child did ___________,” If only my husband/wife/boss/friend/mother/sibling did or didn’t _____________,” If only I had more money. If only I had more time. If only I felt better. If only ___________ hadn’t happened, If only, If only, If only… I’d be perfectly happy.
Wellllllllll. The time is now for you and me to be perfectly happy. Hashem (G-d) loves us and gives us exactly which trials and experiences we need.
As the saying goes, “We have what we need, and we need what we have.”
Appreciate it, thank G-d for everything, and be joyous.
Of course, some things will change, should change. But until that happens, figure out a way to be grateful for what you have. It is guaranteed that from the right perspective, you will understand that the very thing that makes you the most uncomfortable is the very thing that is, in one way or another, just what you need.
That’s all for now.
